As regards the soil, it is fertile for cultivation of Paddy, Maize,
Wheat, oil seeds, vegetables, fruits and
pulses etc. For Paddy cultivation there are assured irrigation facilities
through canals/lift irrigation pumps, besides the terrain areas of Pulwama and
Pampore blocks are suitable for saffron cultivation.

The table reveals that only 55% land is under cultivation of different
crops. It is also clear from the above table that major part of waste land
available has not been brought under cultivation
for which steps need to be taken by the Agriculture Department
