Horticulture has assumed  a great importance in the development of the Economy of the district. As per the available records of the Revenue Department the area GO HOME hectors whereas the area is on the higher side as per records maintained by the Horticulture Department       Go BACK

            Both fresh and dry fruit are grown in the district   both on Hilly terrains and the plain belts. The area under fruit was 21938 hectors during the year 2010-11 and the area under different Horticulture Department Nurseries is as under:

        The production of Fruit in the district contributes a hand-some share in the over all production of the state (especially in Apple and Almond).

          The Department of Horticulture should take steps for fruit preservation during winter season in the district to avoid decay of the fruit and ensure proper marketing. Besides high yielding varieties and technical know how should be provided to the fruit Growers, Fruit Canning centers need to be established in the district.
